GARNIER PUREACTIVE SENSITIVE RANGE REVIEW*

I was kindly contacted by Garnier to try out their new skincare range, the PureActive Sensitive which consists of three steps; Anti-Blemish Soap-Free Gel Wash, Anti-Blemish Clarifying Tonic and the Anti-Blemish Soothing Moisturiser. You may have seen a couple of reviews of this floating around and here are my thoughts and how I have got on with the products after a month.

As I mentioned before, I went down to London and Manchester for a week in February which is why this was pushed back since I forgot to take it with me. My skin broke out so bad because of the pollution in London and I had quite a few spots so it was the perfect time to start off the whole regime when I came back. The Pure Active Sensitive range is enriched with witch hazel and zinc extract which is perfect to combat spots while being gentle on sensitive skin.

ANTI-BLEMISH SOAP-FREE GEL WASH

You all know me with my huge 10 Step Skin Care Routine and I cooperated these products within my steps. I double cleanse with a cleansing oil and I incorporated the Anti-Blemish Soap-Free Gel Wash within that. This has quite a thick consistency and you only need a small amount on your skin, it claims to remove daily dirt and make-up, absorb excess sebum and soothe sensitive skin.

The gel wash foams lightly and I only apply this on my problem areas which are my forehead, hairline and chin area. I found that when I first used it all over my face it made my crevices of my nose very sensitive and became dry so only apply on areas which you actually have spots and not all over your face like me. The gel wash does indeed remove any makeup I have left over from my cleansing oil and leaves me with clean, soothing and non-drying skin.

ANTI-BLEMISH CLARIFYING TONIC

The Anti-Blemish Clarifying Tonic is a toner for the skin and contains purifying salicylic acid and witch hazel which soothes the skin combats imperfections and claims to tighten pores.  I still use my hydrating toner on the rest of my skin and apply this onto my problem areas which are my forehead, hairline, chin and any areas that have spots appearing.

I squeeze a 5p size amount onto a cotton pad which is the best way to use this product. If you've used a gel toner before, this is what it exactly is like. It has a thick consistency and really does soothe and smooth out my skin, it is slightly mattifying which is great for all those oily people like me. It also does indeed tighten my pores which prevent dirt going back into your pores creating more breakouts. I use this morning and night and I seriously love this!

ANTI-BLEMISH SOOTHING MOISTURISER

The Anti-Blemish Soothing Moisturiser contains; Purifying Zinc which helps fight the appearance of blemishes and marks without drying the skin. Soothing Witch Hazel Extract which leaves skin feeling soothed. And Hydrating Glycerin which hydrates the skin for 24 hours with a non-greasy and non-sticky finish.

I only use the soothing moisturiser at day time since I have other skin products for my night time routine, I only apply a small amount on my problem areas and it does indeed soothe and mattify my skin. I still use my other moisturisers as it does not give me all the hydration my skin needs but it works great as a makeup base as it contains glycerin. It does say that after 8 weeks that I will see the full effectiveness of the soothing moisturiser for imperfections to appear to reduce and minimise pores but I have already noticed my scars are less visible as usually after spots I get hyperpigmentation where my skin has broken out.

OVERALL VERDICT

I have thoroughly enjoyed incorporating these products into my skincare regime and will continue to use them. The Soap-Free Gel Wash is gentle enough for those who have sensitive and combination skin which eliminates impurities that we can't see from build-up and left over makeup. The Clarifying Tonic is my favourite of all and if you were to pick any of these up, it has to be this one, it tightens your pores to prevent breakouts and is that step that you need to see instant results. The Soothing Moisturiser is light enough to use as a daily moisturiser and make-up base and is that extra step during the day.

All in all, they work perfectly together, I found when using these products my breakouts are more controlled and does not get to that stage where your spots are red, irritated or the need to squeeze your spots (gross I know). One thing I need to mention is that it has a scent but it makes your skin smell and feels clean and I would say that if you use any of these products, apply where needed and adjust.

I hope you found this review helpful, this does contain PR samples but does not affect my opinions.
I currently have a giveaway running on my last post so don't forget to check it out.

Until next time!

  2. I'll have to give these products a go, I've got super sensitive skin that hates pretty much all products but I do need something to tone down my redness xx
