Must have travel skincare items

Travelling or a short weekend break sounds like a perfect getaway until you need to pack up your skincare essentials and pray it's not piling onto the number of clothes and makeup you are bringing. For me, I take these 6 must-have items.
Cleansing Oil
I choose cleansing oil over wipes any day (thinking about those wrinkles), it quickly dissolves my makeup including waterproof mascara. The cleansing oil I have been reaching for is the DHC Cleansing oil which is a two-step process: first massaging the oil into your skin, second emulsify the oil into a milky texture by adding water. The DHC cleansing oil has not broken me out and is very gentle on the skin. Some of my favourite cleansing oils here.

Cleansing Gel Wash
Double Cleanse is really important especially if you wear heavy makeup or SPF (which you should be using daily) as it removes impurities and dirt that are in your pores that the cleansing oil did not catch (when you use your toner with a cotton pad and there are still makeup residue you need to be double cleansing). I use the Garnier Sensitive Soap-Free Gel Wash which helps with breakouts.

Toner
Make sure you pick a toner that can be used for day and night. A toner balances the PH of your skin after cleansing and preps your skin for other beauty products you apply on top. My favourite toner is the Pixi Glow Tonic* that has Glycolic Acid which is gentle enough for AM and PM use.

Serum
A serum contains powerful ingredients that help penetrates deeper into your skin, it can be hydrating, brightening, oil-controlling so many more functions. What I look for in serum is to be hydrating and also brightening to combat with hyperpigmentation. The Milk Makeup Watermelon Brightening Serum is something I have been trying to use up, I featured it in my bare minimum skincare and also have a review here.

Moisturiser
A moisturiser helps lock in the serum you've applied and help moisturise your skin. My go-to moisturiser is the Glow Recipe Pink Juice Moisturiser. It has a gel texture, is very cooling on the skin, helps hydrate, adds glow and smells incredible. It's also the perfect base for makeup.

Lip Balm
My lips get so dry when I don't have some sort of product on it but the go-to lip balm that I use day and night is the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream which is a moisturising balm that can be applied all over your body. My lips are still hydrated when I use this at night.

If you are travelling, you need minimum bulky items. I pour most products in a tiny travel container and take a small case. If you don't have mini's it's a great way to minimise the number of items you are taking and reduces the amount of weight.

A tip: take what you really need. We all have a tendency to overpack.

Until next time!

  7. I think I am a serial over packer when it comes to travelling! I picked up the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream last year in a gitf with purchase deal, I still haven't opened it but think I will pull it out for the autumn as I suffer majorly with dry lips, especially during the colder months.

Glow recipe is on my list to try out this year, do you have any recommendations?
