Juno & Co Microfiber Velvet Sponge Review | Dupe?

Long gone are the silicone sponges and weird chicken fillet alternative applicators. Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the Juno & Co Microfiber Velvet Sponge which I have tried over a year ago and just reviewing now (my bad!)There are many colours and designs of this but sticking with the first original microfiber sponge, the blue sponge has a flat base and a pointed, half slanted flat edge. They come in a zip-lock type bag and the sponge itself is hypoallergenic and latex-free.

The sponge claims to provide you will full coverage and can be used as a brush applicator. It has dual layer technology: 1st layer, microfiber which holds onto the product and absorbs 50% less product. 2nd: a traditional antimicrobial makeup blender.

Like most sponges you need to wet the sponge for the sponge to expand, it feels velvety soft but also sturdy within your hands. The sponge does feel like it becomes stiffer when you leave the sponge for a few minutes as the water does not hold I believe it's due to the microfiber which also means it absorbs less product.

Depending on your foundation, this gives the best coverage your foundation can achieve. I am always left with more foundation which then I use to cover blemishes and the sponge does a fantastic job. You can use this to apply powder but I prefer to use a flat top powder brush to do so.

I find it super easy to wash using the Juno & Co Clean Up Your Act Solid Cleansing Bar (review here) it is sturdier than you beauty blender but still, be cautious of your nails.

SPONGE AFTER 3 MONTHS

The sponge does dry fast especially since I live in a humid county. My sponge did get little black dots after 3 months but I think it's due to the humidity in HK. Compared to the beauty blender, the microfiber sponge makes my overall application more matte as the sponge retains less moisture.

Overall I really love the sponge and was instantly impressed by how much better coverage I can achieve. I find it velvety soft and I have repurchased it. If you have dry skin you may need to dampen the sponge more or even have a spray-on hand to keep the sponge damp.

Have you picked up this sponge yet?
