MAKEUP REVOLUTION FAST BASE STICK FOUNDATION REVIEW

It seems that MUR (Makeup Revolution) is continuing to take the beauty world by storm. When I heard they were launching a stick foundation I had to pick it up. It's not yet available in stores but I picked mine up from the Superdrug website. There are 18 shades altogether and retails for £5! Yes £5 you heard me correctly, now to see how I actually got on.

MY SKIN

I have combination skin, a little bit drier because of the weather but I do have an oily t-zone. On the areas where I have spots and you get that ring of dry skin this foundation will cling to those places, so you need to exfoliate well.

COLOUR

There are 18 shades and F6 is actually a little bit orange for having a yellow undertone. It looks fine in the tube but when you come to apply it onto your face it is more on the orange side. It's not too noticeable but I can see a difference. I picked up the shade F6 which is for light to medium skin tones with yellow undertones. I've tried their Define and Conceal concealer which I have in the shade C6 also for yellow tones and it's a really good match hence going for F6.

THE PRODUCT & FORMULA

So this foundation is Cruelty-free and suitable for vegans, it has 6.2 grams of product. It comes in a twist applicator and the packing is very pretty pastel pink. It claims to melt into your skin providing a fresh and dewy finish.

Now they don't claim to have full coverage but 'fresh and dewy' I would say this is a buildable medium finish. The max amount of layers that I apply is 2 to build up the coverage and I go in with a little bit more on areas that I have blemishes but it doesn't 100% fully cover scars and spots.

It is really quick to swipe the product across your skin and I recommend only using a damp beauty blender to blend the product out. Also when I say damp, your beauty blender does actually need a little bit of moisture because when I squeeze my beauty blender dry it makes it difficult to blend and takes me longer to blend. It does give me an overall dewy finish almost looking like a sheen - almost oily, so I set the crap out of this foundation

WEARTIME

The first time I wore this I found that it settled into the fine lines on my forehead and no foundations have ever done this to me so after that first time really set my forehead with powder. The problem areas I have with almost every foundation is that it settles in the crevice of my nose and this does it quite badly. I do try to tap it back in but it just doesn't work. I have noticed that if you don't set this foundation with powder well it just didn't blend with my powder bronzer especially on the forehead area.

Because now I feel I've mastered how to use this foundation, I can wear this foundation from 7am to 8pm which is my normal day to day makeup wear time, which is actually really good. One thing you need to keep in mind is you can't touch your face at all during the day. If you swipe your skin it'll come off. I'm not a face toucher during the day so my skin does look pretty flawless to a certain extent (you can still see my blemishes) and throughout the day I become a little dewy but in a healthy glowy way. You can powder your skin if necessary but I don't find the need to.

OVERALL

I do really like this foundation even though it seems like I'm slating it but I want to get into the nitty-gritty. If you are wondering if it works well with their Define and Conceal Concealer, it goes really well together and doesn't separate. For £5 I do recommend you to try this out, the shade range is pretty good but also at the same time a little bit off. Has this convinced me to ditch my liquid foundations? No, but would I continue to use it? Yes and I'll probably pick up another shade. I'm not a person for contouring so I did not pick up a shade to test that out. I hope I've covered everything if there are questions please let know. Below is a crap iPhone Photo - there is no filter, you can see my little blemishes on my cheek and chin. Shop the Makeup Revolution Fast Base foundation at Superdrug.

Until next time!

  7. I love the MUR concealer so I'm really intrigued to try this foundation stick out and at only £5 I don't think you can go wrong! It's annoying that it creased a little bit but I'm sure with a dab of powder, it wasn't too bad! The picture of you wearing it looks beautiful as well Joyce! xx
