JANUARY FAVOURITES

Welcome to the first favourites of the year, this past month I have been swapping around my make-up and trying out new things. The first item is the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, my favourite foundation was the Loreal Paris True Match before it got reformulated and I hate it now because it leaves glitter flecks all over. The Healthy Mix foundation is a build-able medium coverage depending how you apply it, which is what I'm going to mention now.
I have been using the Make Up Revolution Sponge (part of the Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Blend Collection), continuously since I got it at Christmas, if you have the Beauty Blender you are going to love this. (I'm going to be comparing this against the Beauty Blender so heads up). The sponge is even softer, easier to clean and even more 'spongey'. What I mean by 'spongey' is the bounce effect when applying the product onto your face. I use the Barbara Hofmann Solid Cleanser and I only need to soak it once for all the product come out of the sponge, it's slightly bigger than the Beauty Blender but I have a wide cheeks so that works to my advantage, it also sports the pointed tip to really get under the crevices of your eyes and nose. When I use the beauty sponge with the Healthy Mix foundation it creates a flawless and light coverage.

For a medium coverage I have been using the Make Up Revolution Angled brush (part of the Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Blend Collection) it is densely packed with synthetic bristles and really helps build the foundation up on parts you want more coverage, it is also extremely soft and I have no experiences with it bleeding when cleansed.

Carrying on with face related products, I have been loving the Benefit's Real Cheeky Party which is a Christmas edition sporting a selection of their best-selling blushes, this month I have been using Rockateur and Sugarbomb continuously, I will be sporting the other shades when it's more summery.

For eye-shadow's I have been reaching for the Freedom Pro Artist Black Pad Palette which sports 48 pigmented shades. you can see I have made dents in certain parts of the palette, I have been reaching for the browns, aubergine and rose golds shades. I do experience some fall out depending on what brush you use to pick up the product, which happens when I use a fluffy blending brush since it's more sparse. There's are soo many looks that you can create with this huge palette, I love it and it's really affordable.

Lastly for lips, I have been reaching for the NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Sandstorm featured in my NYX Haul (here). I have been wearing this alone a lot (see my Instagram), is a matte cool toned brown shade, which I have been loving recently. The formula dries matte but leaves a tacky feeling but the 'tackiness' prevents your lips from drying out throughout the day, there's nothing worse than flaky matte lips at the end of the day. It does fade when you touch oily products, other than that it's a really great long lasting product.

That's all for my January favourites. Until next time!

  1. Do you ever experience the NYX matte lipstick getting on your teeth? I have Invisalign and was thinking of switching to a matte to see if it would cut down on the transfer to my braces.

    1. I've only used the Soft Matte Lip Creams or the Liquid Suede, I haven't had any problems with them transferring to my teeth. Hope this helps :) x

  3. I hate when make up brands reformulate an already great product! I've heard a lot of great things about the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, haven't been able to try it since they don't sell it where I live but I will get my hands on it someday! xo

  5. I do like the healthy mix, but unfortunately I've replaced it for Nars Sheer Glow as it is kinder to my Winter skin. The sponge looks incredible though, I've tried so many different ones as I can't justify spending so much money on an expensive one. I'll definitely be trying this out!

  11. I recommend the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation all the time - it's perfect for people with dry skin, and leaves a beautiful glow. It's a shame that they don't go any darker with the shades, though!
