Barry M Unicorn Primer Elixir Drops Review

Remember when unicorns were all the rage? Unicorn highlighters, lipsticks, serums, brushes? One of the items that actually stood out and made me want to try the unicorn theme was the Unicorn Essence from Farsali which we know is Instagram famous, today I am reviewing the 'dupe' Barry M's Unicorn Primer Elixir Drops.

Ingredients

The formula claims to be oil-free and is the perfect primer before your makeup application as it hydrates, brightens and protects your skin from the environment. It also contains Acai Berry, Goji Berry, Watermelon and Tamarin. It has a serum consistency and is a beautiful shimmering pink liquid.

Packaging

The product comes in a purple glass bottle which is very sturdy and very suiting since the liquid is pink, it has a pipette applicator and contains 15ml of product. With time I have noticed the edge of the bottle has become crusty and has a citrusy scent.

Application

Upon first touch on your skin it has a thicker serum feeling but blends into a watery texture that sinks quickly into your skin giving your skin instant hydration. The liquid looks shimmery but it's not visible on your skin unless you directly shine a light directly on it. Instead, it leaves your skin very smooth, hydrated and has a little radiance for your foundation application.

Since I wear SPF daily I do need to be careful of what I use as a thick cream SPF does not settle well with the primer as it is watery. With my Dr Jart UV Sun Milk, I pat the primer into my skin especially focusing on my t-zone.

Overall

I have found that my makeup does indeed last longer and since I have oily skin my foundation separates around my nose but this helps prolong it. I get a smoother applicator and my skin does look smooth and hydrated. Overall this is a very fun primer to use, it does do what it claims and its a joy to apply in the morning. It's affordable at £8 and also has skincare benefits so I do reach for this quite often.

Have you tried this before? I have also reviewed the Barry M Mist & Fix Dewy Setting Spray here.

Until next time!

  5. I really liked this when I first bought it - but didn't notice it did much for my skin. A year or so later and I'm on my third or fourth bottle and I LOVE it! :D

I've tried so many other serums since I first discovered this one and the others have made me realise how good the Barry M Unicorn primer is. :D
