Beauty Bay Skincare | Did it hit it's mark? | Sensitive acne-prone skin

The Ordinary and The InkKey List introduced us to no BS skincare at an affordable price point, is the BeautyBay skin line on par with these brands?

Was anyone surprised with their skincare launch? I had a feeling that this was coming since the launch of their makeup line which I have still not tried. There are 11 products in the range and the packaging are all very minimal with the main skincare ingredients printed on the packaging. I picked up: Skin Fixer Clay Mask (£7.50), Super Jelly Cleansing Gel (£6.50), Skinhit Clarifying Serum (£6.50), Skinhit Brightening Serum (£6.50). I have sensitive combination, acne-prone skin but that does not stop me from trying out new skincare (which I should since I had another Cystic Acne scenario)

Skin Fixer Clay Mask £7.50
Formulated to help congested breakout-prone skin types, the skin fixer clay mask contains kaolin and bentonite clay to purify and decongest pores while PHA (gluconolactone) gently exfoliates your skin helping you achieve softer and smoother skin.

When you first look at the product with your naked eye the muted rose mask seems very thick, when it comes to applying and waiting for the mask to dry out it's actually thin and not too difficult to get off with a warm towel. It has a minty scent and I have only used this mask the one time as I was dealing with my case of cystic acne and I felt that it made my acne flare-up?. I am not ruling this out yet but I feel there are better products on the market that I enjoy more. I am waiting to try this again.

Super Jelly Cleansing Gel £6.50
A non-foaming, non-cleansing gel that helps balance skin leaving you fresh and clean. This contains prebiotics that helps with skin barrier and avocado il to cleanse and moisturise.

If you are familiar with non-foaming cleansers (which are the ones I stick to since I always have a reaction with foam products) you gently massage this onto your skin. I like to apply one pump within the palm of my hands and massage onto my face and neck and a further 1-2 pumps on my Foreo cleansing device for further cleansing. This is strictly a second/double cleansing item and if you were to attempt to remove your makeup directly with this. I wouldn't recommend.

I truly find this extremely gentle on my sensitive skin and most importantly it does not strip the skin while leaving it super clean. It smells refreshing and I do feel I can smell a hint of avocado. This may be a dupe of the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser but I have not tried it.

Skinhit Clarifying Serum £6.50
The Skinhit products are designed to be used alone or to customise with other products. It contains bakuchiol with is a retinol alternative that helps fight blemishes and tackle pigmentation issues, it also contains colloidal oatmeal that helps moisturise and soothe the skin.

This is a milky white lightweight serum that has helped cool/calm down my skin with the use of oatmeal. I find that is has a lovely cooling effect and smells of tea tree. I love mixing this with my other serums and creams and it has helped fight my blemishes. It absorbs quickly into the skin and has a nice hydrating mattifying finish.

SkinHit Brightening Serum £6.50
Containing Vitamin C and Peptides this milky pastel yellow serum helps brighten and even out skin. The use of peptides has antiaging benefits by stimulating collagen production and also helps with texture. Vitamin C helps brighten dull skin, fade pigmentation and improves skin tone and texture. Again the Skinhits can be customised or used alone.

This is another lightweight serum that does not have much fragrance. I've used this for about a month and I feel my complexion is much more even and my pigmentation has been fading a little faster. I do really like this since its moisturising and I've no had sensitivity or reaction but we don't know how much % of Vitamin C is in this Skinhit. I am thinking about purchasing another to mix with my body cream to help with skin tone issues.

Overall I am very happy with the products I have picked up to use to try. The Skinhits are very decently sized with 50ml of product for £6.50 and is targeted for different concerns; hydration, scarring and pigmentation, antiaging and texture.

The Brightening Serum and Clarifying Serum are super simple targeted serums that every skincare rookie can get on board with. I like them, they are nice and they do what they need to. I would repurchase them in the future and it just reminds me that you can customise your skincare with your existing products. The Soothing Serum is on the way to my doorstep as I want to compare The Ordinary's Niacinamide with Beauty Bay's.

The Super Jelly Cleanser is a must-have item from the range! I love how it's not stripping and leaves my acne-prone sensitive skin moisturised and clean. If it's in stock get it. I need to revisit the Skin Fixer Clay Mask and I would like to try more from their skincare line when they come back in stock.

What are your thoughts on Beauty Bay's skincare range?

Until next time!

  2. I have missed the memo on this launch I must admit, I didn't know it existed. In truth, I have never shopped on Beauty Bay before, I had heard negative things about their service and delivery which put me off. I should give them a try really and see how I get on.

    1. When I was in the UK, their delivery service was fab since it was always dispatched the next day. I think it was just the courier that they used x
