LOREAL PARIS LUCENT MAGIQUE CUSHION LUMIÈRE | BB CUSHION COMPACT

LOREAL PARIS LUCENT MAGIQUE CUSHION LUMIÈRE
Last year during my first visit to Hong Kong, the BB cushion just launched and was first appeared in Korea. The BB cushion compact has taken over the Asian market, becoming a must have item in everyone's make up bag.  The term BB represents blemish balm which is to cover blemishes and to perfect the skin without being cakey . The term cushion is the form of application to apply the product and how the product is presented.

In Asia, (mostly Chinese and Korea) the BB cushion compact has taken over BB creams in the forms of a tube, however the UK like always are the last and are only beginning to take in this concept of a cushion compact with Lancome launching their cushion compact, available in your local Boots .

This year during my visit to HK, I spotted the Lucent Magique Cushion Lumière launched by Loreal Paris in my local Watson's (like Boots) and Beauty Avenue in Langham Place, retailing for $199 HKD. The Loreal True Match foundation is my everyday foundation and is a true favourite of mine and I was excited to purchase this to review.

First impressions
First of all can we take a moment to appreciate the rose gold packaging!!, it's simply beautiful.............. Okay moment over, looking at the shade choice, there isn't much of a choice, only available in two shades : R2 Rose Miracle and N3 Nude Miracle. I bought the N3 as that was the closet I can get to my shade of a W3/W4. I think you can already see the problem, the undertone was too pink and light. I was told that even though the brands are the same, the formula and colour changes as they adapt to local preferences and suitability.

As you can see the compact is quite bulky, but has a really wide and clear mirror. The product can be refilled by purchasing a refill pack, however I did not purchase back ups as I knew the colour was not a suitable match for my skin tone. Like other BB cushion compacts, the product is within the sponge which has a very well suctioned cover to prevent spillages.

LUCENT MAGIQUE CUSHION LUMIÈRE RUBYCELL PUFF
LUCENT MAGIQUE CUSHION LUMIÈRE RUBYCELL PUFF
The exclusive rubycell puff as they call it, is extremely gentle on the skin, however I wouldn't agree with 'obtaining the right amount of product in one tap', this is because with just the one tap, it's not enough coverage to hide light redness in your cheeks, or even cover up scars and actual blemishes. Although I would say it is extremely build-able to a certain point, with the product being a dewy finish I felt my skin was extremely sticky throughout the duration I wore it.

FIRST PUFF APPLICATION - ACCENTUATES PORES
SECOND PUFF APPLICATION - COVERED UNEVEN SKINTONE BUT BLEMISHES STILL VISIBLE
THIRD PUFF APPLICATION -  EVEN COVERAGE
OVERALL APPLICATION
I first applied the product on at 11am, on the first application : it has a lovely cooling sensation but it accentuated the pores on my skin, second application : covered uneven skin tone, but blemishes are still visible, and by the third application: it gave an even coverage and covered blemishes slightly but can be seen. ( I asked my brother if my face looked okay and he said ' I can see your scars') I would suggest applying the product where you think you need it the most but by then as it is so sticky due to the dewy-ness it accentuated my fine lines.

By 2pm: my dry patches are extremely visible, the product has faded away on my cheeks, the sickness is still there and there is transfer when I blot my face but my face is still radiant. By 6pm: my face is so greasy that I feel pretty disgusting, I have an extremely shiny face and there is almost no product on my face. By 9pm: the product is pretty much non-existent, I feel like a greasy mess, (I went out to the supermarket and every time I looked at a reflection I was just like 'eww', when I removed the remaining parts of my makeup with the micellar cleansing water, normally with my foundation you get that foundation colour coming off but, when I removed this, it was grey and dirty. What I can say about this is, it attracts dirt onto your face and I've broken out on my forehead, chin and cheeks.  Yeah for my rescuing my skin in the next few days!!

My verdict
Not my cup of tea, I'm all for dewyness so my skin has that natural glow, but I don't like looking a like a greasy mess. The rubycell puff is really nice, which I may use for my normal foundation application. For the price of the product, you don't get the same amount of product you get compared to you normal foundations ( its approximately £16.50), and with a cushion compact it only lasts you approximately a month, whereas my true match lasts my 3-4 months. It's okay for people with perfect skin.... But who has that really??.

Thank you for reading this extremely long post, let me know if you want a review about the
Étude House BB cushion.

Until next time! Joyce x

  1. Even though the packaging is to die for, sounds like this product is somewhat of a disappointment which is unfortunate.
