MAKE UP REVOLUTION DEFINE AND CONCEAL | IS IT WORTH IT?

There has been a lot of hype revolving this concealer and who would I be if I didn't pick this up and try this out. If you have been trying to get your hands on this, you know that this has sold out in a lot of Superdrug stores and as I'm on the paler side, all the lighter shades were unavailable. I picked mine off the Superdrug website since you get a free click and collect and picked it up the next day. I have been using this concealer for 2 weeks now so I have experimented with this quite a bit.

SHADE

The shade range is impressive, if you compare it to other drugstore brands there are not a lot of colour choices, with MUR launching so many shades at once we should give Make up revolution a round of applause, like many people have said being in 2018 shade range is really important as it reflects diversity. There were 18 colours that were initially launched and if you follow MUR on Instagram they will have 25 shades available in March. The shades that I have picked up are C2 and C6, C2 is described as for fair skin with yellow undertones and C6 is described for light/medium skin with yellow undertones.Sometimes I find C6 more orange than yellow and can seem pink when I apply it on my bare skin which is why I'm glad I picked up C2 to mix.

APPLICATION

Now a lot of people are saying it is a dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape, and I have not tried the Tarte Shape Tape so I will not be comparing these. The application does, however, look a lot like it in terms of having a large doe foot applicator. If you've tried the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation the applicator also reminds me of that. The applicator itself is big so it's not suitable for precision concealing.
I use concealer both under and on top of my foundation since I do have blemishes such as dark marks left from spots. When you use this concealer under your foundation, the concealer disappears which is really frustrating since I like that extra bit of coverage. I also found that dries fast so you need to go in quite quickly with your beauty blender or brush but if you do want to build up that coverage I will leave it a couple more seconds and blend with a beauty blender since the moisture from the Beauty blender can help with the 'matte-ness' of the concealer.
I wouldn't say that this concealer is full coverage but definitely buildable medium to full. If you have dry under eyes like me I do hydrate that area a lot more, I avoid going into the corners of my under eye area since I do have fine lines there, so my concealer does normally crease when I blend too far in. This concealer is creamy and really helps smooth out the pores under my eyes, the longevity is also incredible. I wear my makeup for over 10 hours a day and it looks the same underneath my eyes when I go to take this off. It does not budge which is really amazing. I mix C2 and C6 together and dab dots on my skin, I go in with the second layer of C2 to highlight and for that extra coverage.

FINAL VERDICT & COMPARISON

If you compare this concealer to the Collection (£4.19)  one, which I know is a firm favourite of most people the MUR one is so much better, the collection concealer is good in terms of coverage but it's so dry that I don't use it anymore. Compared to the Maybelline Eraser Eye (£8.99) again coverage is unbeatable. For £4 this concealer is really worth it. Do I think it's worth it? Yes and I will continue to use it. The photo below has no filter and applied the concealer under my eyes, on my dark marks around my nose, forehead and chin which is still a little bit visible.

Hope you found this review helpful!

Until next time!

  9. I actually chuckled to myself when I saw these were sold out in my local Superdrug the other day...the blogger effect eh!!! I have yellow undertones and really struggle to find a high street concealer that's a good shade match so that's good to hear they have such a wide range of shades!

    Also your eyebrows are perfection!
