Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask VS Pink Juice Moisturiser

Which one do you need? The Sleeping Mask or the Glow Moisturiser?

Who is Glow Recipe?

Founded by Sarah Lee and Christine Chang, they bonded over their love of sheet masks and Korean beauty, they introduced the latest skincare trends from Korea to the US/UK such as glass skin and 7 Skin method. The Glow Recipe site not only sells their favourite products but also advises the ultimate k-beauty routine.

Watermelon Sleeping Mask

Launched as the first official 'Glow Recipe' product that racked up to a 5,000 waitlist list in Summer 2017. The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask promises glowing radiance and soft skin. It is formulated with watermelon extract, hyaluronic acid and contains AHA's that exfoliates while hydrating your skin. There are two methods to use this mask, as a;

Peeling Sleeping Mask
Apply 2 dime sized amounts to the skin as the final step of the evening routine. Pat gently until absorbed. Wash thoroughly in the morning

Wash off Mask
Use the spatula to scoop the face mask and spread a thick layer gently across the face from forehead to chin. Rinse with lukewarm water after 10 minutes.

Verdict

I personally only use this as a sleeping mask at the last step of my skincare routine. I layer a lot of other products underneath therefore a dab of the face mask is more than enough for my entire face and neck. It smells heavenly on the skin and does not smell artificial at all. You have this incredibly silky feeling when you rub this in and it absorbs into the skin quite quickly. Once it has all settled it creates a slight film on the skin like a sealant. It is pillow-proof and does not feel sticky like other sleeping masks I have tried.

I wash the face mask off thoroughly in the morning and it leaves me with soft and hydrated skin. I use this mask almost nightly almost like a night cream. One thing I have noticed it slightly pills if you apply a lot of products underneath but you just tap that back in or wait a little longer before you apply the sleeping mask as the last step.

On my combination skin, it really restores hydration and my skin loves it.

Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturiser

The sister of the sleeping mask, the pink juice moisturiser is infused with watermelon extract and promises weightless hydration for a natural glow and contains hyaluronic acid that leaves skin smooth, soft and supple. It has a gel-like consistency and has a cooling effect on the skin. The pink juice moisturiser can be used morning and night for oily combo skin and as a serum, if you have dry skin. It can also be mixed with foundation to add radiance.

Verdict

Having tried using the pink juice for morning and night, I see better results using this during the day as I am very oily, it gives my skin the hydration it needs while feeling refreshed and cooling. It again smells heavenly and is very silky when you rub this in. It gives my skin a very hydrated and glowing base to work with, as Hong Kong is becoming warmer every day this is the perfect moisturiser to start your day with and does not feel heavy on the skin. I use one pump across my face and neck.

At night the pink juice helps seals all the other products I have applied underneath but it does not give me that hydrated glow that I want to wake up in the morning with, I am drier at night and once I wash my face I get that tight feeling that makes me instantly reach for my toner. I think this will be amazing to use in the colder months as a serum.

Overall

Having read reviews and trying these myself the sleeping mask and glow moisturiser are both amazing not to mention the packaging that makes every vanity envy with its pastel pink and glass bottles.

They both have different uses and if I were to choose one I will go with the sleeping mask since it gives me that hydrated glow to start with in the morning before applying any skincare. I have the full-size version and have bearly made a dent having this for over 5 weeks now and using almost nightly. It gives me a calm feeling at night when I apply this like a skin satisfied moment and it won't fail me the next morning even if I am suffering from dry skin.

That is not to say the pink juice moisturiser is not worth it, I wouldn't hesitate to repurchase and it is the only moisturiser that I use during the day now, it gives me such a nice natural glowing base to work with and my foundation melts so nicely on top. In terms of nighttime, the sleeping mask is the winning champion but I do think I have a win-win situation having the sleeping mask at night and the moisturiser in the morning that gives me an all-rounder good skincare routine.

If you haven't tried this which one are you leaning towards? I have also reviewed the Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Cleanser and Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask and I can't wait to get my hands on the Watermelon Glow Mist.

Until next time!

  8. I have been wanting to try these babies for such a long time but I just have so much skincare products that I wanna get through what I have first. I would totally try the sleeping mask! It's nice to know it absorbs immediately and doesn't leave a sticky feel to it. I'm always afraid of turning on my side to sleep because my face will touch my pillowcase haha. Thanks for sharing!
