Worth the hype? | IT Cosmetics CC Cream Review

Being that all time full coverage girl, I have had my eye on the IT Cosmetics CC cream for a while, that promises that 'your skin but better' look providing full coverage goodness. My skin is sensitive, prone to breakouts and a combination of oily and dry. I had a case of cystic acne that left hyperpigmentation and dark spots across my skin which makes me very conscious so looking for an alternative to a foundation is this coverage cream.

CC stands for Colour Correcting and this CC cream contains SPF 50 - a huge plus so you can skip a step and can be used as a moisturiser, anti-aging serum, concealer, foundation and sunscreen based on your coverage needs. It is also paraben and cruelty-free.

The packaging reminds me of hand cream but with a handy pump applicator and holographic design. There is a citrus scent which may irritate your senses depending on your nose sensitivity. From this CC Cream, I am looking for a foundation alternative, therefore, using more than 1 pump of product.

As a foundation, it really does not sit well. I use almost 3 to 4 pumps of product to achieve full coverage but then I still go in with concealer to cover dark marks. With that much product, it does indeed feel cakey and it does leave a greasy film before setting. When it comes to powder I have tried both the NYC Can't Stop Won't Stop setting powder and RCMA no-colour powder and it stills become patchy especially under my eyes / top cheekbone area. Another thing to mention is that it clings to dry patches so it just does not look good. I much prefer a foundation to fulfil my full coverage dreams rather than layering a thicker cream.

As a sunscreen, I use about 2 pumps to cover my entire face and neck (see photo below), it gives my skin a brighter complexion removing a little redness but any blemishes you have will show through. I prefer using a beautyblender to apply so it does not end it in my brows. I found that it makes my foundation not last as long, become separated especially across my t-zone and my overall complexion greasier faster.

From the two ways I have tested out the CC Cream, I lean towards a sunscreen application and only use on days where I am not going out or meeting a lot of people. I know a lot of people swear by this CC cream but it is not for me. I have much better sunscreens that are also much more affordable and does not disturb my foundation. Overall I am disappointed with this but I will continue to use it up.

Until next time!

  4. After reading this I don't think I'd love it either- I like medium to full coverage to be honest and I've never actually found a CC cream I love as of yet!

  6. Aww sorry to hear it hasn’t been a match for you, I was surprised to read it wasn’t great because so many people swear by it. But thank you for being so honest, this was one of the most well written and interesting product reviews I’ve read. And it just shows that every bodies skin is different and what may be a must have for some is a no go for others xx

  8. I'm so torn between this. My sister picked one up the other day and I used a bit and I liked it for a bit of a glow/your skin but better kind of application however I don't think I'd wear it every day as I prefer more of a medium/full coverage.

    1. It contains SPF and it does indeed give you a glow but I wouldn't personally us this as a foundation alternative x

  10. I actually really like the CC cream, but then I guess it does depend on your skin type. Such a shame it didn’t work for you though!

  12. I tried this when I went on holiday skiing, I 100% agree it's not full coverage which is what I usually go for but was perfect for my holiday as I didn't want something so heavy! I just loved how high the SPF was in it as this was the most important part for me.

  13. It's such a shame about the separation! I am always on the look out on a good lasting product that's less heavy than a foundation. Does such product exists, who knows! Thanks for your review.
