YSL All Hours Foundation Review | Oily Combination skin

There's always one foundation that I kept hearing about that being the YSL All Hours foundation. Available in 33 shades, the All-Hours foundation is a natural matte foundation that lasts up to 24 hours with buildable medium to full coverage.
Formula
It contains ultra-fine oil-absorbing pigments that blur pores and fine lines and also cover imperfections and unevenness. It is infused with black tea antioxidants for skincare benefits that combat signs of dullness, fatigue and protect the skin from pollution.

The foundation has SPF 20, is non-comedogenic meaning it won't clog your pores and is suitable for all skin types. It is sweat and humidity-resistant which is perfect for Hong Kong weather.

Packaging and shade range
The foundation comes in a clear glass bottle with simple black details and a pump. It feels weighted with 30 ml of product. I picked up the shade BD20 - warm Ivory, and I believe B20 - ivory would have worked on me too since I have neutral undertones. BD is for warm undertones, B is for neutral undertones and BR is for cool undertones. As mentioned before there are 33 shades in the range.

Different applications
For application, a beauty blender, fingers and also a foundation brush is recommended. For light coverage, one pump of foundation blended with your fingers is perfect coverage. With beauty blender application it creates more of a buildable finish with a damp sponge. Lastly for full coverage, 2 pumps of foundation with a brush applicator are the best. For this, I like using a cushion puff that does not absorb much product or a flat top buffer brush (B01 from Spectrum).

Coverage and skin type
The foundation is liquidy and although it is infused with black tea, I think it smells a bit of cucumber. I like using 2 pumps of the foundation for the best coverage and normally with a cushion puff that packs on the coverage. I find that it evens out my skin a lot and blurs my skin but it does not completely cover dark marks which are hyperpigmentation leftover from pimples. I have oily-combination skin and If you have dry patches it doesn't really cling to the flaky parts that much which is really good.

The foundation leaves a lovely soft matte finish and only slightly sticky when you touch your face. I only set the areas where I have applied concealer but the overall finish is flawless and lightweight. So you don't think you have makeup on.

Longevity
Longevity wise the maximum time I have worn the foundation for is 15 hours. I have worn the foundation through my daily workouts and it is indeed sweat and humidity proof for when I don't have the air-con on. It is not waterproof so it does slightly come off where my hairline is when I have a shower after my workouts but nothing too noticeable. My foundation looks really good until the 10-hour mark where my oils seep through the foundation. I tried blotting my face where I am the oiliest and my foundation lasts longer.

Overall
Although it doesn't last as long as I want it too I much prefer this compared to other full coverage foundations that I reviewed in the past. I love how lightweight it feels and how flawless it is during the day. I haven't noticed any oxidation either which is great and I would probably keep repurchasing this in the future.

Have you tried this foundation?

I hope you've enjoyed this review and found it helpful.

  8. I have never tried YSL. It's so so glowy on you. Even though it doesn't last the full amount of time, I'm glad it lasts a decent amount of time. As I also have oily/combination skin, I find that a lot of foundations tend to go patchy on me xx

I've used it a couple of times, but unfortunately it did not really fit my skin type...
