STILA SMUDGE CRAYON : PRIMER, EYESHADOW & LINER

STILA SMUDGE CRAYON
Advertised as a 3 in 1 product : a primer, eye-shadow and eye-liner, with a long lasting gel formula for 6 hours of continuous wear. It is also waterproof, crease resistance and available in 9 shades.

PACKAGING
The product comes in a light weight plastic pencil which has a swivel adjustment that goes up and down for precise control and a twist/pull off sharpener on the end of the tube to keep the pencil sharp for a precise application.

PRODUCT AND APPLICATION
When swatched on hand you instantly feel it has a very smooth finish, the product is extremely creamy which glides across the skin easily and dries quite quick. When worn on eyes, I found that I could not place the product on top of another (Maybelline Color Tattoo), and it became patchy and difficult to blend using my fingers and eyeshadow brush. When I wore the product again without any other it was still a bit patchy and still difficult to blend.

COVERAGE.
The product is very pigmented and opaque therefore the product comes out very strong and bold, which  has pros and cons depending on how you like to wear your make-up. On my eyes ( I have oily eyelids) they did not last for 6 hours, but only approximately 2/3 and they did crease. Waterproof wise is hard to comment since I had no intention of splashing water onto my eyes or chopping onions.

COLOUR
The colours as mentioned before is very pigmented and bold. Umber is deep chocolate brown with a hunt of purple. Dazzle is described as a black but is more of a gunmetal grey with shimmer. I found that Dazzle has heavier shimmer towards it compared to Umber.

PRICE
On Asos, which is where I found the link for a online purchase, it is retailed for £13 each and there are limited colours to choose. I picked mine up for £2.99 in T K Maxx.

MY VERDICT
As a primer, the product did not work well when an eye-shadow is applied as it is not long lasting and creased in my eyelid, as a eye-shadow it's too difficult to blend, the colour is pigmented but too bold and as an eye-liner, the nib is too thick therefore the line is too bold/big, which is not a good look if your not going for a graphic eye-liner look.

Therefore this is not my cup of tea, I love Stila's Waterproof Felt Tip Liner, but there is definitely better eye-shadow stick products out there on the market that does an incredible job, such as the KiKo Eyeshadow Crayon's which has a wide range of colours and is a fraction of the price.

How do you feel about Eyeshadow Sticks?
Until next time!
