PRODUCTS I'M TRYING OUT | SEPTEMBER

I am always trying out new products especially skincare and makeup products. So this is an update to keep you on track with me on how I am getting along with some of the new goodies that I just started using. I swap around face products a lot since I directly apply that on my face and I like having options for different skin needs.

The first makeup item I want to talk about is the Inglot Mattifying Powder in Shade 302. This is part of the refillable freedom system where you can create your own palette. This is a 'banana' powder type product which is used mostly to highlight and correct your makeup. Before this, I was using the NYX Cosmetics Banana Powder which took me ages to finish. I purchased the Inglot powder back in March and it has been sitting in my draw until now.

I do believe there're a couple of  banana/yellow powder shades for different skin tones. I chose this to highlight my under eyes, it does the job quite well so far, does not dry out my under eyes and is easy to correct mistakes. The bad thing that I have noticed so far is the flashback when taking photographs with flash - It looks like I have two white eye mask under my eyes. I don't think the NYX version did this to me or was quite as noticeable but I think I will be only using this in the daytime.
Who doesn't love Kathleen Lights on YouTube? Every time she recommends something or collabs with a brand I always want to try the recommended item although sometimes it's not easy to get a hold of the products. In her Ride or Die Makeup Tag, she mentioned she's loves the Kiko Extra Sculpt Mascara. Kiko is easier for me to access and I purchased the mascara when there was an offer on.

I did pick the waterproof version since my eyes are quite oily and mascaras that are not waterproof will start to smudge throughout the day. I can see why Kathleen likes the mascara as it easily gives you voluminous lashes. It, however, can get clumpy quickly . I also found the brush to be a bit big so I can not reach my smaller lashes without it transferring around my eyes.  Also having straight Asian lashes the mascara weighs my lashes back down since the formula is quite wet, I follow through with my lash routine and it doesn't look as droopy but it doesn't give the curl/length that I like. I'm going to keep on using this until I can 100% confirm if it is a yes or no product.

You've probably already seen this in my Everyday Makeup Menu post. But this is the PUR Cosmetics HydraGel Eye Lift Primer that is raved by Michelle from Ready Set Glamour on YouTube. She swears by this stuff and says it helps with her concealer creasing in her fine lines around her eyebags. This is was hard to track down until Beauty Bay stocked it as an exclusive product.

The HydraGel is very soothing on the skin since it has a cooling effect. Does it help my creasing under my eyes? The magic hasn't happened. I don't want to give up on this since it does provide an extra hydration step for my under eyes but I haven't noticed anything different at the moment. If you guys use this let me know how you get on with it.

A product that was really hyped up when it arrived onto the market is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. I wanted to swap up my night time moisturiser again since I like options and so far I am quite liking this product. It hasn't made my skin breakout and gives the hydration that my skin needs overnight.

The cream is very thick and I only use a small amount on my face and feels like it has a cream to oil consistency. It leaves your skin a nice glow and I've heard it's a great makeup base and has many skin care benefits including hyaluronic acid which helps restore moisture and hydrate and anti-aging benefits. The scent of this is amazing it smells like a rose fragrant tea which I like. This is a pricey moisturiser so I want to definitely see the benefits before I commit to the full size.

I hope you've enjoyed this quick little update if you have used any of these products please let me know how it has worked out for you.

Until next time!

  1. I'm definitely interested to see how you get on with the Kiko mascara in future, as I have straight and shorter lashes too

  2. What a nice line up of products! I have really short and straight lashes that get weighed down easily, so I know the struggle. My favourite mascara that works wonders for me is the Guerlain Maxi Lash Waterproof - it's fantastic!
