Bodycare 101

One of my new year resolutions was to moisturise my body and now as we edge to closer to the end of the year it's time to see what steps I've taken in order to take care of the skin on my body not just my face.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation comes hand in hand with smooth skin, buffing away those dead skin cells. I like using a physical exfoliator to do this that is any type of face scrub that I have on hand. I've used the Lush Ocean Salt, Origins Modern Friction and even the Fresh Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash.

A more gentle approach to exfoliation is an exfoliating gel. I like using the Cure Peeling Gel to do this. It's quite liquidy when you pump it out of the tub but once it meets your skin it reacts and creates little balls that are a mix of dead skin cells and the product itself. You're not really shedding that much skin. If you saw the Huda/Wishful Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub in action - it's the same thing.

Another item that you probably have is exfoliating gloves, they help lather your soap and what better applicator than your hands to wash your body. When you scrub you also help blood circulation and also buff away dead skin cells.

Body wash

Since I started exercising this year, with sweat comes with blocked pores and backne is sometimes painful. I started using the Mario Badescu AHA Body Botanical Soap about half a year ago and my back no longer sprout spots from sweat. This AHA body soap gently exfoliates dead skin cells and unblock pores. The scent is grapefruit which is quite refreshing.

Hydration

To seal all that hard work, a good body cream is needed. I much prefer creams than oils since it's more saturated and I don't feel sticky. Sometimes I mix my oils into my creams to use the product up. I've used the This Works Dry Leg Oil which smells of sandalwood and also Bio-oil in the past.

The cream that I am loving right now is the Nivea 72 hours Body Cream which has B5 a great hydration component that also repairs skin. My skin no longer looks like scaly crocodile and the smoothness last all day.

What body products have you been using?

Until next time!

  6. I am definitely leaning towards body washes with AHA's in as I am so lazy in ensuring I use body lotions!
