EVERYDAY LIGHT CONTOURING PRODUCTS & BRUSHES

Contouring is a great way to define your cheekbones and accentuate your features. For me, it reduces the size of my chubby cheeks and changes my oval looking face. Now, nobody wants to go hardcore contouring your face every single day because not everyone has the time to do that especially me. These are my favourite products for an everyday light contoured look that I am sharing.

PRODUCT

First up is the Bourjois Paris Bronzing Primer. Most people use this as a light flush of warmth on their cheeks but I use it as a base to enhance my contour just like a primer. It has a mousse velvety texture which blends like a dream not to mention the chocolate scent of this is delicious. It is a universal colour but it looks quite orange. It helps chisel my cheeks a tiny bit see my Instagram photo here.

Next up is actually a bronzer blush duo by Ciate London X Olivia Palermo in the shade Bluff Point which contains a cool toned bronzer and a dusky pink blush. This is a beautiful contour colour for me which I only use on my cheekbones. The texture is extremely smooth and buttery compared to all the other products. This is a buildable bronzer shade that allows you to control the depth of your contour. See my Instagram photo here.

Lastly is the NYX Cosmetics HD Blush in Taupe. This is a much hyped about blusher that is used as a contour product. It has ash/grey undertones which are perfect to accentuate/create cheekbones. I also  use this on my forehead area too to make it look smaller.  Since I bought this I have been using this every single day, it is buildable and I love using the Ciate X Olivia Palermo Bluff in conjunction with this. BRUSHES

Brushes are really important for a precise application. There are 3 brushes that I swap between depending how 'chiselled' I want my make-up to be that day. Starting off with the beautiful Spectrum Collections Tapered Brush which has synthetic bristles, this brush gets right under your cheekbone creating the 'shadows' or the 'sunken' effect. I use this with NYX Cosmetics HD Blush in Taupe and Ciate London X Olivia Palermo in the shade Bluff Point.

Crown Brushes C473 Pro Contour Brush - is used to sculpt. It reminds me on the Nars Ita Brush and that one is expensive. I don't think the Nars Ita one is worth the hype since the bristles remind me of a paintbrush. The C473 has extremely soft bristles which I use to create a perfect line from the top of the ears to your actual mid cheekbone. I then use the horizontal side of the brush and blend the product out. I use this with NYX Cosmetics HD Blush in Taupe and Ciate London X Olivia Palermo in the shade Bluff Point. If my face was feeling puffy I will opt for this brush.

The last brush is dedicated for Bourjois Bronzing Primer. Barbara Hofmann's Round Foundation Brush. It's for foundation originally but I found it a bit too small in size but works perfectly for liquid/cream products. The bristles are very soft and densely packed therefore when I dip my brush into the product it doesn't sink into the bristles. The angled aspect allows me to evenly spread the product along my cheeks and allows a controlled movement. I love using this with all sorts of cream products for contouring.

I'm thinking of doing a quick tutorial on this but we will see how that goes. This is all for my everyday light contouring products, I hope you've enjoyed it. Share below you favourite contouring products and brushes!.

Until next time!

  3. That Bourjois one looks really nice, although if I had to choose between the three, I'd probably pick NYX because of the color. :)

    1. Yeah, the Nyx one is more versatile for more skin tones since it's more neutral x

  6. I've been interested in trying out the NYX Taupe but I'm afraid it will only bring out my hyper-pigmentation? Would you recommend it for warm/olive skin? I find that some blush, bronzer and contour shades can unfortunately accentuate my problem areas, and this particular shade although popular, is a little scary to me!

    1. I have slight hyperpigmentation on my cheeks too and the best way for me to cover them is with concealer underneath my foundation, I then powder my face to set the foundation and then apply my contour. I don't know if it's good for olive skintones since I am more yellow. You can always ask the guys/girls at the counter to pop some on for you to test it out x
